Members of Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) have a new acting junior vice-president.
Council member Paul Tansey takes his place at the top table after being elected by the business support organisation’s board.
Paul, who is managing director of Poole-based marketing agency Intergage, said: “DCCI is much more modern and forward thinking than it has been for the past decade.
“It is the best network for serious businesses in Dorset. I am keen to help the Chamber communicate with its members in an even better way and build on its social media use as well as traditional channels.”
Paul added: “My vision is that the Chamber is not a network where businesses turn up at an event to pitch to the other 799 members there.
“It is where members go with the genuine intention of finding other businesses they can support and help. If every member can go with the aim of helping at least two other members, it will turn things on their head and make us the most supportive and helpful network that Dorset has.”
Paul has been on the DCCI council for a year. He was nominated and then elected by the DCCI board to the position of acting junior vice-president.
Earlier this summer David McNair, who is director of the Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, stepped up from senior vice-president to acting president following Rob Mitchell’s departure to focus on his role as commercial director at AFC Bournemouth.
Junior vice-president Vincent Boni, who is Newsquest Dorset managing director, took on the position of acting senior vice-president.
DCCI chief executive Ian Girling said: “I’m sure Paul will prove to be a valuable asset to the Chamber in his new role as acting junior vice-president.
“He is exactly the type of dynamic individual we need at the Chamber as we set our sights on further progress and modernisation over the coming year.”
The next president will be elected at the DCCI AGM in December. Traditionally, the senior vice-president is elected president. The junior vice-president then becomes senior vice-president.
Acting president David McNair said: “Paul’s appointment brings us back up to full strength.
“It is a pleasure to welcome him as acting junior vice-president and I very much look forward to working closely with him, along with Vincent, over the coming months.”
DCCI is the voice of business in Dorset with approximately 800 members representing 37,000 staff. Six town chambers are affiliated to DCCI.
DCCI is the only chamber in Dorset to be accredited with the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).
