St. Modwen has exchanged contracts to purchase a prominent 19 acre site in Worcester from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Located in a popular residential area, two miles south east of Worcester city centre, the sustainable site benefits from being situated on the Whittington Road (A44) – the main arterial route leading south east onto junction 7 of the M5. It is in easy reach of the city’s shops and restaurants, and Worcester Foregate Street railway station, which provides regular train services to Birmingham, Bristol and London.
The UK’s leading regeneration specialist is currently exploring a range of options for future development for the site. In the meantime, Defra continues to occupy its buildings on the site, although it will relocate upon completion.
Jonathan Green, development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “We’re currently exploring our options for this site, which is in an ideal location in terms of its proximity to the city centre, the railway station and the motorway network.
“This purchase from Defra further cements St. Modwen’s dedication to Worcester, where we’re working on progressing a number of different schemes.”
Also in the city, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist recently completed the construction of 25,000 sq ft of new employment space on a speculative basis at Great Western Business Park, and has submitted a planning application to build a further 60,000 sq ft.
It owns and manages the 275,000 sq ft Shrub Hill Industrial Estate, which has more than 90 occupiers, and Nunnery Way, a 19 acre site on which it is developing employment, showroom and leisure space.
