Property agents from across the Midlands have been viewing the progress at Coventry’s transformational Friargate regeneration scheme at a series of breakfasts.
The highly anticipated £100 million transformational project has courted the regional and national headlines for its broad vision that will not only bring a new business hub to the city but also an attractive, new sustainable built environment that will deliver economic, physical and social benefits.
More than 50 property agents attended the events in the Friargate Marketing Suite, from where they could see work on the scheme quickly gathering pace. Demolition of one of the final buildings, Station Tower, is underway; the attractive new public realm is taking shape and work on the first building – Coventry City Council’s new HQ which has been designed by by internationally renowned architects Allies and Morrison – is about to begin.
In total, Friargate will comprise 25 new buildings that will transform the city and deliver over 3,200,000 sq ft of mixed use development including Grade A offices, two hotels, homes and retail alongside greatly enhanced public realm that will prioritise the pedestrian across the 37 acre site – which is equivalent to around 25 football pitches and more than double the size of Birmingham’s award winning mixed-use Brindleyplace scheme.
