Brewin Dolphin has further expanded the funds it manages on behalf of charities by becoming the investment manager for The National Eisteddfod of Wales.
The firm has been appointed to invest a portfolio of long-term funds for Wales’ annual cultural festival to meet its specific needs for growth and income.
The charity and institutional team of Brewin Dolphin, which is one of three specialist teams within the Cardiff office, will use its in-house research capabilities to tailor a bespoke portfolio for The National Eisteddfod of Wales and provide tailored investment advice through the medium of Welsh.
Brewin Dolphin was appointed to work with The National Eisteddfod of Wales due to its ability to deliver a service through the Welsh language. The Welsh language service is headed up by Assistant Director Geraint Hampson-Jones as part of the office’s offering to private clients, charities and institutions seeking wealth management advice.
The Eisteddfod Festival, which is the largest European cultural festival, this year welcomes up to 160,000 visitors to Montgomeryshire and the Marches between 1st – 8th August.
Elfed Roberts, Chief Executive of The National Eisteddfod of Wales, said: “The Welsh language and Welshness is an integral part of our festival, therefore it was essential for us to work with an investment management firm that could deliver its service through the medium of Welsh. Brewin Dolphin fitted the bill as Wales’ leading investment management firm and we’re delighted to be working with its dedicated Welsh language team to maximise the funds we receive from our supporters.
“The National Eisteddfod is dependent on the goodwill and support of the general public, and many of our activities and events are able to happen thanks to the generosity of fundraising groups and private donors wherever the Eisteddfod is held.
“The festival costs £3.4 million to hold every year, and the financial prizes and financial contributions of our supporters are pivotal to the success of each Eisteddfod.
“With Brewin Dolphin’s help we hope that gifts from supporters will make even more impact.”
Assistant Director, Geraint Hampson-Jones said: “The National Eisteddfod of Wales is at the heart of our culture and our nation, so we’re delighted to be working with such a prestigious organisation. We’re passionate about promoting the Welsh language and being able to deliver our service through the medium of Welsh is something that really differentiates us from other investment management firms in the marketplace.”
This latest addition to Brewin Dolphin’s Cardiff office boosts the funds it oversees on behalf of charities, pension funds and institutions in Wales to more than £130m.
The charity investment management team in Wales is spearheaded by Head of Brewin Dolphin Wales, David Myrddin-Evans and Russell Hooper, who have over 30 years of City investment experience between them. Other well-known Welsh charities under their stewardship include the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, WNO, Tenovus, St John Cymru Wales and Christ College Brecon.
David Myrddin-Evans, Head of Brewin Dolphin Wales, said: “We are delighted that the National Eisteddfod of Wales has chosen to move their funds to Brewin Dolphin here in Cardiff. All our charity clients have their own bespoke portfolio, with every investment decision guided by their specific objectives.
“We hope that the service we provide will help keep up The National Eisteddfod of Wales’ fantastic work as the only festival which promotes the Welsh language and the culture of Wales to people of all ages.”
