One of the team at Nottingham based Eden Public Relations, completed their first ever Triathlon on Sunday, raising almost £400 for Cancer Research UK.
Alex Jones (24), a PR Assistant at Eden PR, trained for 16 weeks and spent over 60 hours pounding the pavements for the event. It all paid off on Sunday when he competed alongside hundreds of fellow professional and amateur athletes, with Team GB Triathlete Adam Bowden winning the overall event.
First hearing about the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon through Eden’s client, leading Nottingham insurance broker Russell Scanlan, Alex couldn’t turn down the once in a lifetime opportunity to race alongside the former Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button plus celebrity TV Chef Gordon Ramsay at the event at Derby’s Markeaton Park.
Alex said “I really enjoyed my first ever Triathlon, the main highlight was racing against Gordon Ramsay, he was in my first race and whilst waiting to start he was within touching distance away!
“It was very hard work, especially having to do the Triathlon twice, but I thoroughly enjoyed pushing myself and it was all worthwhile as I raised a lot of money for Cancer Research UK. I’d like to thank all those who have donated and supported me throughout this experience.”
Alex aimed to raise £250 for the charity and has almost doubled this target with almost £400 raised so far and donations are still coming in. If feeling charitable, you can donate towards Alex’s Triathlon here: https://www.justgiving.com/AlexJonesEden
