Alcumus has appointed Rory Underwood, the former British Lion and England rugby international to the position of Development Director.
Although best known for his prowess on the international rugby scene (an impressive 85 caps and 49 tries for England), Underwood has also spent over 18 years in the RAF as both a jet pilot (with 3000hrs) and a Human Factors Trainer. In this role, he was responsible for quality and risk management initiatives, including Crew Resources Management training.

Commenting on this latest appointment, Martin said: “In his role as Development Director, Rory will facilitate senior level introductions, and work with our Sales & Marketing Director, Grant Strelling to build on the success Alcumus has achieved in these core sectors.
“In addition, Rory, via his consultancy company Wingman, will explore board level risk management and behavioural safety leadership opportunities with Alcumus and support the growth of this service offering to our key clients.”
Alcumus works with UK and international clients to manage their exposure to risk, comply with the latest legislation, improve business performance and encourage workforce engagement. Its clients include Morgan Sindall, Transport for London, Laing O’Rourke, Subsea7, John Lewis Partnership, Sodexo, Dolce & Gabbana, Compass Group and Sainsbury’s.
The company’s software, advisory support and UKAS accredited certification also help companies address corporate social responsibility (CSR) and business processes across the areas of health and safety, property compliance, human resources, quality, environmental and security management.
Commenting on his new appointment, Rory said: “I am delighted to be joining the Alcumus team and look forward to supporting the company’s risk management, compliance and certification service growth.”
