Nurton Developments has signed a deal with East Midlands-based Davidsons Homes to deliver up to 400 new homes on its 50-acre strategic land site located at junction 13 of the A42 (M42).
The new homes on the Holywell Spring Farm scheme in Ashby de la Zouch, will be delivered over a six-year period and will include a mix of high-quality, mainly detached, three, four and five-bedroom homes.
As part of the scheme, a 60-bed Extra-Care home will also be included, land for a primary school, a small convenience store and a medical centre which is currently being constructed by Matrix Medical to serve more than 14,500 patients locally. Construction firm Wildgoose started building work on the surgery, called Ashby Health Centre, in February and it is being funded by Assura with support from NHS England. Extra Care housing is for those who find it difficult to manage living on their own but want to retain their independence.
Davidsons Homes, which is based in Ibstock, north-west Leicestershire, was founded in 2007 and prides itself on building high-quality homes that generations of families would be proud to own, with an emphasis on great design, brickwork, detailing and craftsmanship. The firm retained its place among the industry’s elite for the third year running in 2015 by being confirmed as a five-star developer by the Home Builders Federation.
Holywell Spring Farm is one of a number of strategic land sites Nurton controls throughout the Midlands region. The other major site being in Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire with planning consent to create up to 2,500 new homes, and one million sq ft of employment space creating up to 3,000 jobs.
Rupert Young, development director at Nurton Developments, said: “Schemes of this kind take years to come to fruition. We acquired an interest in the land in 2009 in more challenging times, but could still see the opportunity and have been going through the process of masterplanning, gaining planning approval and then identifying partners since.
“We’re confident we have arrived at the right deal with Davidsons Homes both for Nurton, the landowner and the local community. The new homes are a key element of the scheme and will really move it forward. It will be satisfying to see it take shape.”
James Burnham, the land director of Davidsons Homes, said: “We are delighted to have secured a deal with Nurton Developments to deliver this scheme in our home county of Leicestershire.
“We pride ourselves on building top-quality homes which reflect distinctive local characteristics and our approach in Ashby will be much the same, with our usual attention to detail and using subtle references such as materials, textiles and colours found in Ashby.
“It is very exciting to be involved in such an impressive overall vision which will provide much-needed new homes for the community as well as health provision and employment opportunities.”
Building work on the homes is due to start in January 2016 with the first homes likely to be released for sale in the summer of that year.
Nurton Developments is a privately-owned property investment company with schemes across the region and UK and specialises in adding value to purchases from development land to multi-let offices and industrial buildings.
