Nottingham-based Cleggs Solicitors has appointed a new partner to expand its management team.
Lisa Wainwright has joined the growing legal firm as partner/director – joining Mark Williams, Ian Torr and David Vaughan-Birch at the helm.
Lisa will be the firm’s head of corporate litigation & dispute resolution – working alongside David Vaughan-Birch who will continue his work in general litigation and his specialism in financial services litigation.
Fay Williams will continue to head up the Personal Injury department, which will remain independent in the firm’s structure.
Lisa said: “Cleggs Solicitors is a very highly respected firm with high quality clients, which are key reasons why I wanted to join the company.
“There is a team of nice, genuine people at Cleggs and the quality of the firm’s work is of the very best standard. The firm is based in a great location and has just expanded its premises, so it is a very exciting time to be coming on board.”
Lisa deals with all types of litigation – personal or business disputes – and is a qualified mediator. She was also named in the Legal 500 in 2013.
Areas of Lisa’s expertise include automotive, contract and commercial disputes, construction disputes, credit hire debt recovery and landlord and tenant disputes.
She is also an expert in personal injury, product liability, property disputes – including dilapidation claims and lease termination and renewals, professional negligence and trust disputes.
Lisa started her legal career in Nottingham, moving to the City of London for a number of years, then back to her home in the East Midlands. She joins Cleggs from a Leicester-based law firm.
With more than 15 years’ experience in both commercial and civil litigation, Lisa has acted extensively for automotive and aerospace clients where the need to resolve disputes quickly in a commercial environment is often complicated by the need to retain customer goodwill.
Lisa’s commercial awareness, coupled with her pragmatic and robust approach, enables her to fully understand and assist the parties to obtain a resolution as quickly and as cost effectively as possible.
She has dealt with hundreds of commercial/civil litigation disputes, ranging from small claims cases to complex multi-track claims. She is known for her tactical and procedural acumen and for her ability to choose the right strategy for the quickest and most cost-effective result.
Within her position, Lisa will also be undertaking a business development role. Her aim will be to promote the company and consolidate its strong reputation. This includes expanding the firm in the area of litigation and helping to increase turnover and profitability across all sectors of the business.
Mark Williams, partner/director at Cleggs Solicitors, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Lisa to the management team. She has made excellent progress throughout her career to the point where she now joins us as a partner.
“Lisa’s vast experience and expertise will boost the offer we have here at Cleggs. She is very accomplished dealing with many, often complex, cases and forges excellent relationships with clients. Lisa has the breadth of knowledge and ambition to help us to take the business forward.”
