The Bristol office of accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has welcomed ten new members to its audit team and announced the promotion of John Talbot to director. The new members include Hannah Cook and James Ellis, who both join from other firms.
Over the coming months, a further eight recruits are expected to join, including six starting a training contract. The audit department is led by three partners and a director, John Talbot.
John spent seven years working at a Big Four firm before joining BDO Bristol’s audit team nine years ago. During this time, the department has more than doubled in size, with John playing a key role in staff development. He has worked on a variety of clients, from mid-sized firms to listed businesses, owned both in the UK and overseas.
John, who is also now registered as a ‘Responsible Individual’ with the ICAEW, commented: “I am excited about the opportunities that we have ahead of us. With a huge proportion of our clients stating they would – and indeed do – recommend us, it is clear that our ongoing commitment to exceptional service is well established and recognised.”
Andrea Bishop, audit partner and head of BDO in Bristol, said: “John’s promotion and our ongoing recruitment drive demonstrates BDO’s success at leveraging its position as one of the leading firms providing audit services to local and global businesses across the region. We now have an audit team of more than 40 staff and are already seeing the benefits of this investment with new clients and opportunities. It is an exciting time for the office.”
