Thames Valley firms are being encouraged to become an integral part of a successful business group which is being re-launched later this month.
Cog:ent – The Cognisant Entrepreneurs’ Group – involves business leaders from the across the region sharing success stories and best practice to help fellow members overcome challenges and advise on the support available to drive business growth and build on the improving economy.
The group was launched by accountants Moore Stephens in conjunction with strategic change consultancy Telos Partners and HSBC and has run a programme of eight thought leadership workshops over the last two years.
Given the positive response to Cog:ent, a new group is being expanded to feature 50 businesses.
A launch of the 2015-2017 group is being held at 5.30pm on Thursday, June 25 at HSBC’s Green Park offices in Reading.
The new series is aimed at key business decision- makers and influencers of organisations in the Thames Valley area who have the ambition, potential and commitment to grow over the next two years and beyond.
The series will feature short focused quarterly workshops centred on a theme. Themes will be shaped by the participants but initial feedback has given an indication that they will include; building effective teams, successful growth strategies, building an international business and succession planning.
Businesses with a turnover of more than £3 million and up to £100 million are being urged to be part of the launch event, where they have the opportunity to find out more about the second series, provide input to help shape the content of the programme and network with participants.
Ian B Johnson, partner at Moore Stephens, based on Queens Road in Reading, said: “We’re delighted to be expanding Cog:ent and look forward to welcoming a wide range of businesses to the group.
“The launch event will be a perfect opportunity for ambitious business leaders to tell us what they need to help their business grow, and talk to businesses who have been part of the group over the last two years and the success they’ve enjoyed during this time.”
Adam Campbell, partner at Telos, said: “We see this activity as a worthwhile investment in ambitious businesses in the Thames Valley area and an important next step in our quest to provide better support.
“Each time we do this it is amazing to see the impact that comes from bringing likeminded people together around a common agenda. Creating a safe and effective discussion space for ambitious business leaders is what Cog:ent all about.”
