A pattern and mould-making company, launched in a disused farm building in rural Barton-in-the-Beans, is expanding with a move into large factory premises in Hinckley.
Leading Leicestershire commercial property specialist Andrew and Ashwell negotiated the sale of the premises, on Harrowbrook Industrial Estate, for 3D Pattern and Mould Makers Ltd; which has taken on four new staff following the move, with plans to recruit two more by the end of the year.
Founded 15 years ago, 3D Pattern and Mould Makers Ltd has established a reputation for the production of high quality moulds for precast and cast stone manufacture nationwide.
At over 29,000 sq ft the new factory unit is built around a high bay portal with a ten-tonne crane and gantry and includes offices and a dispatch bay. It is in an ideal location for continued expansion, at the heart of the Midlands motorway network, off the A5, three miles from Hinckley town centre, connecting to the M69 for Leicester, Coventry and Birmingham.
3D employs a team of 23, with highly skilled patternmakers, mould makers and GRP laminators, delivering wide-ranging moulds, from runs of copings and cills, to large structural features, including staircases, bridge units and bespoke contracts. Major projects included moulds for decorative stonework at the athletes’ village in the 2012 London Olympics.
The company had been looking for bigger premises for over a year.
3D Director Michael Armes said the company had been looking for new premises for over a year.
“This factory was right for us and the new headquarters will enhance both production and service. We found any query directed through Andrew and Ashwell was both quickly and professionally dealt with.
“The building is much larger than our previous premises, providing capacity to put bigger – and more – moulds into production. The overhead crane also makes loading and unloading a lot less time consuming.
“We have already recruited four new staff to cope with increased production and look to add a further two by the end of the year.”
Malcolm Grayson, Director at Andrew and Ashwell, who negotiated the sale on behalf of on behalf of private property company Marrs, added:
“With the economy picking up it is good to see there are premises available to suit the needs of expanding firms like 3D. We were happy to help them find the right building and location that will help them grow further.”
