A graduate surveyor is building his career with Hampshire firm McAndrew Martin after becoming professionally qualified.
Bruce Scott has become a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) after successfully passing his final Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
He joins the ranks of RICS professionals at 24-strong McAndrew Martin and follows in the footsteps of chartered surveyor Lee Sargeant who started at the firm as a trainee and passed through the Portsmouth-based company’s exacting training programme.
Bruce, who lives in Portsmouth with his partner and baby daughter, said: “Becoming a Member of RICS has been a long held career goal for me.
“I’m delighted to have passed. I’m looking forward to the next phase of my career with McAndrew Martin, and to playing an active part in the company’s future success.
“McAndrew Martin places great emphasis on staff development to help its employees flourish and my great thanks to all at the company for their support.”
Bruce joined McAndrew Martin as a trainee building surveyor and has a degree in building surveying from Kingston University.
His RICS qualification strengthens McAndrew Martin’s team as the company faces rising demand for its property related services, including residential and land surveys and boundary work.
The Fairway Business Centre-based company is also seeking to employ more qualified and trainee surveyors as it expands this year.
McAndrew Martin director Ian Lee said: “Many congratulations to Bruce for passing his APC and becoming a fully qualified Member of RICS.
“Bruce has already gained a great deal of experience with us as a valued and integral member of our team.
“Qualified chartered surveyors with the right amount of expertise, professionalism and dedication are always hard to find, so we endeavour to develop staff from within our own ranks.
“We’re sure that Bruce will go on to a long and successful career, and play a key role in helping the business continue to grow over the coming years.”

The crunch APC final assessment includes a written submission and a rigorous professional interview to ensure candidates meet RICS’s high standards.
McAndrew Martin is registered with RICS as a firm. Its managing director Bill McAndrew, director Ian Lee, consultant Ken Veness and chartered surveyor Alf Wimshurst are all RICS Fellows.
McAndrew Martin recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and has acquired two practices – Veness Chartered Surveyors and the Brunel Design Group – over the past 18 months.
