A former travel agency in Edgware Road which has stood empty for the past two years is to be converted into a restaurant.
Planning permission for the change of use has been granted for the former Lee’s Travel premises at 367-369 Edgware Road following an application by Hornington Investments.
Colliers International planning specialist Marcus Plaw, who advised Hornington Investments, said the company had had to convince Westminster City Council that the new use would support and enhance the commercial area of Edgware Road.
He said: “Hornington Investments suggested an internal layout for a new restaurant and provided details of noise and odour mitigation measures along with a commentary on the retail health of the area. Careful consideration was given to making the combined units as attractive as possible to a prospective restaurant operator.
“This information enabled Westminster City Council’s officers to support the change of use and as a result the owner has been approached by a number of interested parties.”
The planning permission was granted on 19 January.
