A long established Wellingborough based company has completed a move within the town, to drive forward its expanding business.
Hampton Steel has recently acquired the former Transworld Publishing premises on Finedon Road Industrial Estate, comprising some 82,710 sq ft on 5.7 acres and has completed a refurbishment of the property for its specific use.
The company specialises in the manufacture of steel wire fencing and cold formed sections, and currently employs 75 people. The relocation and expansion will see the creation of around another 20 jobs by the end of this year.
Chairman of Hampton Steel, Chris Durham commented on the move: “The acquisition of the former Transworld Publishing premises heralds the most significant investment by Hampton Steel since its inception, thereby completing its transition from importer to manufacturer and exporter.”
Prop-Search acted on behalf of the Random House Group in the sale of the long leasehold interest of the premises, following a planning application passed by the Borough Council of Wellingborough for a change of use, allowing the accommodation to be used for manufacturing, office and distribution purposes.
The property comprises a two-bay factory/warehouse of 78,262 sq ft with administration offices of 4,448 sq ft. The site provides potential for significant external storage and expansion in the future.
