Construction has started on the stylish new restaurant at St. Modwen’s Trentham Estate, following the grant of planning consent. Dozens of new jobs will be created when it opens later in the year, adding to the more than 600 people employed at the successful Trentham Estate.
The new restaurant will trade as “Joe’s Kitchen”, a vibrant new brand by The Restaurant Group plc, one of the UK’s largest and most successful restaurant groups. They already operate Trentham’s very popular Frankie and Benny’s restaurant and other well-known brands include Chiquitos, Coast to Coast and Garfunkel’s. The Restaurant Group will lease the new 4,000 sq ft restaurant on completion of the building.
Joe’s Kitchen is a fun, welcoming and casual restaurant which takes inspiration from London’s Borough Market, to create great tasting, fresh food, cooked by people who care. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with a playlist of great British classics, both old and new.
The new restaurant will be situated in a high profile location at the main entrance to the site, opposite Frankie and Benny’s.
Since 2003, St. Modwen has delivered the award-winning £100 million restoration and regeneration of the Trentham Estate and Gardens including the successful Garden Centre, 60 shops, cafes and restaurants and the 119 bedroom Premier Inn hotel. The whole 725 acre site attracts more than 3.2 million visitors every year.
Jonny Buckle, Head of Acquisitions and Leisure for The Restaurant Group Plc, said: “Trentham Estate is a thriving tourist and leisure destination and following the success of our Frankie and Benny’s restaurant, it provides the perfect location for us to add an additional unit.
“We’re pleased that St. Modwen has now started construction and Joe’s Kitchen is due to open in time for Christmas. Around 50 new full and part time jobs will be created, with recruitment due to get underway later in the year.”
Mike Herbert, Director of Trentham for St. Modwen, said: “Bringing another great new brand to the Trentham Estate is part of our whole strategy to continue to make Trentham the place to visit for the region. Joe’s Kitchen further boosts our impressive food and drink offering.
“We are also taking the opportunity to create more than 300 new permanent parking spaces emphasising our commitment to continually enhance the visitor experience.”
St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, recently embarked on a major landscape restoration of historic “Capability” Brown parkland at the Trentham Estate, further enhancing Trentham’s reputation as a great place to visit, following the award as BBC Countryfile’s “Garden of the Year 2015.
