Inspirative Arts, a Community Interest Company which helps some of the most vulnerable people in the East Midlands, is celebrating their move to a new home – the newly named ‘Inspirative House’, on Canal Street, Derby.
In a negotiation led by Derby based commercial agents, Salloway Property Consultants, the deal will see one of the last remaining period buildings in the Castleward Regeneration Area utilized as a new centre for 10 employees and additional 8 associates.
The move coincides with Inspirative Arts successfully registering as a Community Interest Company. This status, in combination with the relocation to larger premises, allows an expansion of their services which include Arts Therapies, Creative Expressive Therapies and associated Wellbeing Services for vulnerable people and their carers.
Originally formed in 2009, Inspirative Arts is a real Derby success story. The company is led by graduates of the University of Derby, who have grown the business from a micro-partnership of two young entrepreneurs (Tracey Cullen & Sarah Paine) into a thriving small social enterprise which brings considerable benefit to local people.
Founder Tracey Cullen said:
“This is an exciting time for Inspirative Arts. Our move to this new, larger building will enable us to grow our business and expand our service delivery, increasing our work with vulnerable families; and people facing a wider range of health and wellbeing issues.
The extra space means we have already been able to expand our staff team. We have just recruited a new administrative apprentice and are looking forward to supporting her in her developing career. We are also recruiting more therapists and creative facilitators, and look forward to creating volunteering and mentoring opportunities, including for vulnerable people who might otherwise be excluded from the workforce.

Commenting on move to bring Inspirative Arts to Castleward, Chris Taylor, Director at Salloway explained:
“The letting of 50 Canal Street is a strong indication of the growing demand for commercial space bordering the Castleward Regeneration Area, a project led by developers Compendium Living. The aim of the project to create a new urban village close to the heart of Derby City Centre – linking Derby Railway Station to the retail centre via a new Boulevard – is triggering revitalised interest in commercial premises neighbouring the scheme. As the regeneration project progresses the positive effect on demand for adjoining premises will continue to become apparent, as has been the case with the letting to Inspirative Arts”.
Inspirative Arts is holding an event on 19th June 2015 to celebrate the move to Inspirative House.
