Mountpark Logistics, the venture between Mountpark and USAA Realco, has joined forces with Stoford to deliver two new distribution warehouse units in the north of England.
Mountpark Logistics has completed the purchase of an 11-acre plot for the creation of a 268,000 sq ft logistics unit at Airport City Manchester, the flagship Enterprise Zone development, which will form part of a new world-class logistics hub adjacent to Manchester Airport’s existing cargo centre and Junction 6 of the M56 Motorway. Construction is scheduled to commence immediately, with scheduled delivery in January 2016.
In Yorkshire, Mountpark Logistics has completed the purchase of a 6 acre plot for the creation of a 133,000 sq ft logistics unit within Wakefield Europort. Construction work has started on site and is scheduled for completion in the autumn.
Birmingham-based Stoford has been appointed as the development manager to deliver both projects.
Encouraged by a severe lack of available warehouse and distribution stock, the projects mark the start of what the two companies hope will be several developments where they work in partnership.
Stoford joint managing director Dan Gallagher said: “Working alongside Mountpark Logistics provides us with exciting opportunities to create high quality warehouse and distribution units in world class locations for logistics and industrial occupiers.”
He added: “Both the Airport City and Wakefield Europort projects are excellent opportunities in regions that are crying out for development of high quality distribution warehouses. These are prime locations for sheds with good quality occupiers and the demand is there due to a severe lack of alternatives.”
“Wakefield Europort marks not only Stoford’s return to speculative development after a period of eight years but also, we hope, the start of a long-term relationship with Mountpark Logistics.”
Roger Sporle, director at Mountpark, said: “The inventory development of these two prime schemes represents our first construction starts in the UK so are particularly exciting. We are very pleased to be working with Dan and his team to deliver what we are sure our customers need. These projects come hot on the heels of Mountpark Bardon where we have consent for 1.3m sq ft which we are marketing for pre-lets and on-going projects in Dublin and Central Europe.”
