The former Blockbuster store on Stroud’s George Street has re-opened as a Coffee# 1 store. The letting, secured by property consultants Alder King, will revitalise the prominent corner building and the lower part of Stroud town centre.
Since first opening in Cardiff in 2001, the chain now has branches across Wales, the South West and the South Coast. The new unit at 1-2 George Street, Stroud is its 51st branch.
The premises occupy a prominent corner plot at the junction of George and King Streets, with large fully glazed shop fronts to both facades. The property provides 1,488 sq ft of ground floor accommodation with a further 736 sq ft of basement storage.
Coffee#1 has taken the accommodation on a new 20 year lease.
John Hawkins, associate at Alder King’s Gloucester office, said: “Stroud is a thriving market town with a wider catchment of around 100,000. The arrival of Coffee# 1 will be a welcome addition and have a positive knock-on effect on this part of the town centre.”
Richard Duffield, acquisitions manager of SA Brain & Co, said: “We’re delighted to be opening our Stroud branch in such a distinctive character building in the heart of the town centre and look forward to becoming part of this vibrant community.”
Alder King advised the private landlord; Coffee# 1, part of Welsh drinks and hospitality group SA Brain & Co, represented itself.
