Dan Wesolowski, a senior audit manager at accountants and business advisors BDO LLP in Reading, has been named as one of the accountancy profession’s finest young talents in the UK.
Dan, 31, has been named in Accountancy Age’s ‘35 under 35’ and is described as having “a bright future in the profession”. The list celebrates the best and brightest in the accounting practice and serves to showcase the achievements of the next generation of managing partners, CFOs and entrepreneurs.
After joining the firm as a non-graduate trainee ten years ago, Dan is now responsible for managing an impressive portfolio of listed businesses and international assurance clients. He has progressively become an integral part of the bid team and has contributed to considerable client wins for the business.
He currently advises a wide range of clients in the technology, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors, among others.
Simon Brooker, partner and head of BDO LLP in the Thames Valley, said: “Dan is a real asset to the firm and has been instrumental in driving high levels of audit quality within the team.
“He is a prime example of how success doesn’t weigh on obtaining a university degree; and his commitment to hard work, quality service and networking has paid dividends. He thoroughly deserves this acknowledgment, and I hope this encourages any aspiring accountants to look at alternative paths into the profession.”
Dan, who studied at Maiden Erlegh School in Reading, describes how the support from the firm has made all the difference.
He said: “Once I achieved my ACA qualification, I had the backing of BDO to take a three month career break and travel. I came back with a heightened focus and hunger to make a success of my career, and the last six years has served a raft of opportunities, challenges and rewards.
“It’s great to have been listed among so many talented peers; and I look forward to what the future brings.”
