Property agents Bond Wolfe set up a tasty deal with The Cake Box buying 117 High Street, West Bromwich, for £180,000.
And managing director James Mattin says it is symptomatic of an improved retail outlook.
A former Post Office which shut down in 2009, the unit had been vacant since then.
Mr Mattin noted: “Demand for freehold High Street property has returned in West Bromwich.
“There was a real fear factor that it would be dead following the opening of the New Square development, but we are seeing an increasing demand for opportunities up and down the stretch.
“The Cake Box is a well established brand and I am sure they will trade very successfully here.”
The three storey property fronts the new Eastern gateway residential development.
The Cake Box, which sells egg-free products, launched in 2008 with one small store.
There are now more than 40, predominantly in London and the Midlands with plans for the total to reach 50 by the end of the year.
