One of Leicestershire’s leading engineering consultancies has strengthened its team with the appointment of four new construction professionals.
Joining the team at M-EC Consulting Development Engineers are senior driller and site technician, Carlo Camposano; technical secretary, Victoria Carson-Smyth; lighting engineer, Aimie Loveday and civil engineering technician, Debbie Pegg. Three of the four new recruits will work in M-EC’s construction design division and be responsible to associate infrastructure engineer, Craig Perks whilst Carlo will set up a new site technical services division under the guidance of associate geo-environmental engineer, Kevin Bullock.
Currently conducting water and gas monitoring tests on a site in Wootton, Northamptonshire, Carlo Camposano relocated from Dorset to take up the role with M-EC. “I’m originally from the Midlands and was looking for a role that would enable me to move closer to family,” explains Carlo. “The opportunity to work with M-EC and establish the site technical services division as an in-house capability was ideal; I’m really enjoying the challenge.”
Supporting the nine strong technical team with secretarial and administration duties is Victoria Carson-Smyth. A multi-disciplinary role, Victoria assists the team preparing reports and assessments; collating marketing material and co-ordinating appointments as well as supporting directors’ PA, Helen Marshall.
Lighting engineer, Aimie Loveday has over ten years’ experience in street lighting and is currently undertaking her Exterior Lighting Diploma with the Institution of Lighting Professionals. Discussing her decision to join M-EC, Aimie said: “I felt the role offered a good amount of variety; I’m able to continue my studies to gain my street lighting qualification but also develop my CAD work to encompass highways and drainage design, which will give me a new skillset.”
Debbie Pegg completes the new intake and is using her civils and highways background to prepare drawings and external works layouts for several of the consultancy’s housing projects. Having previously worked on major road and rail infrastructure projects, Debbie is keen to further her career with M-EC, starting with training to use PDS highways design software.
“All four new recruits have made a really positive impact and been wholeheartedly welcomed by the team,” commented M-EC’s managing director, Eddie Mewies. “These vacancies were ones we had outlined at the beginning of the year and represent a 10% increase in our workforce, which is excellent news. In addition, they each bring a highly specialised skillset that will enable the business to expand its in-house portfolio and therefore support our aspirations for a further 10% growth in 2015.”
M-EC now employs 39 people from its office in Ibstock, Leicestershire.
