A group from Acorn, one of the UK’s leading recruitment and training companies, took to the trees last weekend to raise over £2,000 for Tŷ Hafan.
Members of staff swung through the trees whilst attached to zipwires, with 13 participants ultimately completing the course.
Go Ape is the UK’s number one forest adventure, providing award-winning outdoor activities and days out for adventurous participants.
Tŷ Hafan is a children’s hospice charity that offers comfort, care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families, helping them make the most of the time they have left together.
Natalie Whyatt, Business and Community Fundraiser at Tŷ Hafan, said: “We would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the staff at Acorn for organising this exciting fundraising activity for Tŷ Hafan. We take our support right into the family home and are there to help families through every step of their unimaginable journey. For Tŷ Hafan to offer this unique service to families in Wales, we have to raise £3.7m every year.”
Andrew Tugwell, Acorn’s Group Operations Director, said: “We wanted to do a challenge that was a bit out of the ordinary but would be a good team-building exercise and Go Ape struck us as the perfect option. Some members of the team are scared of heights but wanted to take part because we all believe this is such an important cause.
“Here at Acorn, we believe strongly in supporting charities within the local communities in which we conduct business. We are thrilled to have raised over £2,000 for Tŷ Hafan, who offer comfort, care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families.”
With over 20 years in the business, Acorn operates from 39 branches across Wales and England, placing up to 6,500 people into the workplace with around 1,200 different clients each week. The group also delivers training to more than 1,000 individuals and makes 1,700 permanent placements every year.
