Acting on behalf of Carillion Contract Services Limited, RMW Knight Chartered Surveyors have let 2262 sq ft (210 sq m) of retail space, together with access to an open-plan atrium seating area, to Pret A Manger within the West Wing of the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Due to open in early June, the shop will become Pret’s third outlet in Oxford, and first ever hospital location.
A Pret spokesperson said, “We’ve been working closely with Carillion and RMW Knight to deliver a variety of fresh food and drink choices for visitors, staff and out-patients at the John Radcliffe, and are excited by the opportunity being present in the hospital should provide.
“As with our existing shops, we’re proud to have a large on-site kitchen in our premises at the John Radcliffe, which will enable us to deliver the highest quality products with the fast and friendly service that Pret is known for.”
Letting agent, Paul Knight of RMW Knight, said “We have been working diligently with Carillion to introduce new brands to this exciting and evolving sector and wish Pret every success with their impending opening.”
Lynn Carpenter, of Carillion, concluded “Pret will be well received by landlords and Hospital Trusts as their menu has a healthy eating bias.”
The John Radcliffe Hospital is one of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals and the West Wing was developed by Carillion, and others, as part of a PFI development that opened in 2006. The new facility will replace a café that was previously operated by Carillion in-house.
