Browne Jacobson is continuing to expand its banking presence in the Midlands with the appointment of Associate Marcus Pyke into its banking team in Nottingham in response to a significant rise in instructions from clients across the Midlands market.
Experienced banking and finance lawyer Marcus joins the firm from Simmons & Simmons and prior to that Herbert Smith Freehills. He is nine years qualified, and has extensive experience of finance transactions including acquisition finance, property finance, asset finance and general corporate lending. His clients include banks, financial institutions and borrowers across the corporate, health and public sectors.
The new appointment follows the recent partner promotion of Emma Hopkinson into its growing banking practice in Birmingham. Emma joined the firm in 2012 at associate level from Deutsche Bank in Birmingham and was previously at DLA Piper. Her experience in banking and finance law includes acting for a broad range of UK and international banks, plc and limited companies. Emma was promoted this month along with six other associates to partner level.
The promotions capped off a significant 12 months for the firm in which it expanded its presence in the London market with a key move to new premises at 6 Bevis Marks in the City’s corporate and financial district and was rated ‘exceptional’ in their delivery of client service by Investor in Customers (IIC), making it the first law firm in the country to receive such an accolade.
The banking team has extensive expertise in all aspects of banking and finance from corporate lending transactions, real estate financing, acquisition and leveraged finance to asset based lending, debt re-financing and restructuring work. Its acts for a wide range of public and private sector clients including some of the UK’s leading banking institutions, local authorities, foundation trust and registered social landlords.

This latest addition takes the number of lawyers across Browne Jacobson’s five office network to over 400 in what has been a successful year for the firm. During 2014/15 the business has posted another record set of financial results with turnover rising by 17% to £58.9m.
