Business leaders from the South West are being encouraged to join a London-led Smart Cities mission to the Far East this July.
They will be brought up to speed on the latest in urban innovation during a whistlestop mission to two of the world’s Smartest Cities – Hong Kong and Macau.
They have until the end of May to register their interest to book a seat on the latest mission organised by London Mayor Boris Johnson’s Export Programme in partnership with UK Trade & Investment.
West of England China Bureau Director Richard Lowe, who is taking part, said:
“Businesses will have the opportunity to observe and advise on the challenges being faced by the civic authorities in Hong Kong and Macau as they balance massive population growth with modern business needs and tourism interests.”
The delegation due to leave on July 4 for a five-day programme is focusing on Urban Innovation & Smart Cities.
Richard said: “Companies with the required qualifying criteria will have an opportunity to see how two of the most densely populated cities on earth are proposing to deal with existing urban pressures such as increasing traffic congestion, limited housing stock and booming population densities.
“July’s mission will discover just how the cities are facing these challenges and give businesses from the South West, who have an office or presence in London, an opportunity to put forward some of their own solutions.”
“Unlike some previous trade missions this one will provide networking opportunities where business people can meet their Chinese counterparts and do business as well as exchanging information to help shape their Smart City and Business strategies.”
