A key piece in the re-development of Gloucester Docks is on the market with leading commercial property consultants Bruton Knowles.
The firm has been called in by Gloucester City Council who are seeking a developer or occupier to refurbish the landmark building overlooking Victoria Basin.
William Matthews of Bruton Knowles said an innovative and sympathetic approach would be required on the unique grade II listed property.
“Built during the mid 1800s as merchants offices with frontage on to Commercial Road dressed in ashlar stone – 27 – 29 Commercial Road will be familiar to many as it occupies one of the key locations around the docks.
Gloucester Docks has seen a major transformation in the recent years with new housing and shops having been completed adjacent to the attractive waterside location.
In addition the flourishing Gloucester Quays Outlet Centre is just around the corner and has benefited from a £400m of investment from its owners Peel Group. This now boasts 10 restaurants, numerous shops and saw the relocation of Tidal Lagoon Ltd into Pillar and Lucy Warehouse last summer.
“27-29 is one of the last buildings available to restore within Gloucester Docks and once completed will afford fantastic views over the Docks Basin.
“The property offers a range of potential uses subject to planning and listed building consent.
It is for sale by informal tender, with best bids for the Freehold being submitted by 12 noon, Tuesday June 30.
