The Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry has been listed in a prestigious report which identifies the UK’s most inspiring and fast-growing companies.
The MTC has been listed in the London Stock Exchange’s “1000 Companies to Inspire Britain” report. The influential report – now in its second year – is a celebration of the most dynamic and fastest growing small and medium-sized enterprises in the country.
The report also looks at the challenges and opportunities facing SMEs and at the sectors and trends which will shape the UK economy.
To be selected for the list, businesses had to demonstrate not only positive growth in revenue over the last four years but also significantly out-perform their sector peers.
Xavier Rolet, chief executive of the London Stock Exchange Group said: “This report is a significant part of London Stock Exchange’s broader campaign to support UK high growth companies in their journeys from start-up to stardom and to create an entrepreneurship revolution. I’m delighted that a strong alliance between UK Government, financial market participants, investors, entrepreneurs and companies has been created to support these inspiring businesses.”
MTC chief executive Dr Clive Hickman said it was a significant accolade for the MTC to be included in such an influential report.
“This is yet more recognition of the fine work done by the MTC’s engineers and staff, providing a world-class environment in which to demonstrate new technologies in manufacturing across a wide range of sectors, in partnership with our growing list of industry members and academia,” he said.
The MTC opened in 2011 and was founded by the University of Birmingham, Loughborough University, the University of Nottingham and TWI Ltd. The MTC’s industrial members include some of the UK’s major global manufacturers.
The MTC aims to provide a competitive environment to bridge the gap between university-based research and the development of innovative manufacturing solutions, in line with the Government’s manufacturing strategy. The MTC is part the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by Innovate UK (formerly the Technology Strategy Board).
