A South West based advanced power company has posted record trading figures and is bullish about the future, following a transformative last couple of years.
Powervamp, which is based in Weston-super-Mare, manufacture cutting edge power products for various sectors including automotive, aviation and the built environment.
Powervamp export to over forty countries around the world including many well known organisations and companies.
Directors at the firm say that sales have increased dramatically when compared to the previous year, with the upturn in growth being driven by a number of new contracts and lucrative engineering projects.
Most recently Powervamp won a major contract with London City Airport to supply mobile ground power units (MEGP) in what represented a UK manufacturing first.
No other UK company had the engineering capability to design, and build, such a bespoke product.
Powervamp have also secured other high-profile contracts at London Heathrow, Downing Street, Birmingham Airport and Waterloo Station.
The company has also been awarded the contract to provide all ground power to the static park at the prestigious Paris Air Show later this year.
One of the fastest growing sectors in Powervamp’s business is the Effekta product range, which provides emergency lighting central battery systems to major public areas such as Airport concourses, shopping Malls and hospitals.
Strong company growth coupled with multiple new contract wins have resulted in Powervamp employing 12 new staff members over the last year.
Senior and graduate engineers have joined the company through its own graduate training scheme, taking staff numbers to 51.
Richard Roller, who founded the company 21 years ago, comments:
“2014 was a big year for Powervamp as it saw us heavily re-invest in staff and premises. It’s hugely rewarding to see the company winning major contracts, not only in the UK but also internationally.
“No other company can offer the manufacturing skills supported by our engineering excellence – we have certainly built a global reputation based on this”
Ken Walker joined Powervamp in 2012 as a Director.
He comments:“We are going into the next few years secure in the knowledge that we’ll continue to grow, re-invest and release innovative power products into many existing, and new, markets.
“Powervamp has always had a reputation for quality, but is now gaining serious recognition for its engineering skills too.”
