HLM, a leading national architectural practice, has made a key promotion that will see Lisa Don stepping into the role of associate at its Cardiff office.
Ms Don will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of interior design projects from HLM’s Cardiff office, as well as developing HLM’s interior design department, both locally and through working with colleagues nationally. Ms Don will also support with staff development and mentoring programmes, and the strategic direction of HLM’s other departments, including traditional architecture, master-planning and landscape and urban design services.
Having joined HLM in 2013, Ms Don played an integral part in the bid to win the contract for the design of the £150 million Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, building on her previous experience working on the interior design for the Children’s Hospital for Wales.
Ms Don is also part of the team working on designing the £250 million Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration at Worthy Down in Hampshire, a Ministry of Defence project which will see the creation of a world class college and the redevelopment of the Princess Royal Barracks in Deepcut, Surrey.
Ms Don said: “Since joining HLM, the office in Cardiff has gone from strength to strength, doubling in size last year. During my time at the company, I have strengthened my own skills as an interior designer by working on a series of nationally significant projects, and am looking forward to the challenge of helping to drive forward and expand the interior department of HLM in my new role.”
Jonathan Jones, associate director of HLM in Cardiff, said: “We’re delighted to announce the promotion of Lisa to associate at HLM. Lisa has always been a strong asset to HLM and her range of knowledge and experience is something that will prove most beneficial to everyone at HLM, both in the Cardiff office and across the group.
“As the expansion of our Cardiff office continues, it is the right time for us to appoint someone to promote and oversee the expansion of the interior design team. We’re well-placed to deliver high-quality, holistic design services to our clients and have ambitious expansion plans for 2015 too.”
