An ex professional rugby player has called in some favours from famous friends to raise a substantial haul for charity.
Gary Higgins, who used to play professionally for Bath Rugby, set up his current business GBRS Recruitment with Ben Milsom three years ago and the pair recently helped to raise £16,000 for the Broad Community Trust, who fundraise for Weston Hospicecare and Macmillan.
The money was raised as part of the charity’s annual ball; that was held at DoubleTreeBy Hilton Cadbury House and attended by over 260 business people.
Gary and Ben helped to generate the cash by obtaining raffle and auction prizes, with the pair calling in favours from famous sporting friends and business contacts.
A signed Johnny Wilkinson training top; four gold tickets to watch Saracens vs Harlequins at Wembley, a signed Ulster Rugby shirt; a Man Utd shirt signed by Radamel Falcao and a Wales rugby shirt signed by the current six-nations players were amongst the 26 prizes the pair donated.

GBRS specialise in construction recruitment services, working with businesses of all sizes and using the most up-to-date methods to match skilled people to opportunities currently available in the construction market.
GBRS were founded three years ago and have grown from three employees to seven, and from turning over nothing to just shy of £2.5 million in this time.
The company was recently visited by John Penrose MP, who celebrated their three year business anniversary.
