An expansion project to develop next generation products for the rapidly expanding digital TV market has been secured by Nagra Media UK ‘s Cwmbran centre and will create 20 new highly skilled jobs with Welsh Government support.
Business finance from the Welsh Government helped secure both the project and new jobs for Wales as Nagra Media UK was in competition with other global centres for the project.
Nagra Media UK is part of the Swiss owned and stock exchange listed Kudelski Group, a global technology leader that operates across five continents. Its key focus is providing integrated solutions to support the different platforms that deliver digital TV including satellite, cable, internet and mobile phone networks.
Welcoming the investment Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: “Nagra Media’s Cwmbran centre is a very successful R&D hub with a track record of achieving and exceeding its job creation objectives and I am delighted Welsh Government support helped secure this latest project.
“The expansion will involve a high level of research and development and strengthen the hub of excellence in Cwmbran. Nagra Media is a fast growing high technology company and this investment will enable it to further capitalise on the rapidly developing Digital TV market and create highly skilled jobs.”
The investment will see a new suite of next generation products designed, developed and maintained in Cwmbran and create 20 new jobs.

Nagra Media UK’s office in Cwmbran’s Llantarnam Park was initially set up in 2006 with Welsh Government support to establish a world class Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) Software Applications and Development Centre, creating 35 new jobs.
An expansion project was also supported by the Welsh Government in 2011 creating 25 jobs. The centre, which provides dedicated R&D operations to support the group’s activities in the global digital TV market, now employs 114 people.
The company works closely with local universities and is also supporting a local computer school initiative to encourage youngsters to develop computing skills at an early age. The long term aim is to help support the increase in demand for software engineers.
