Worcestershire developer Maximus has won planning permission for a 225,000 sq ft industrial unit on a site just north of the UK’s distribution “golden triangle”.
The 14.5 acre site, Maximus 22, is 1.5 miles from Junction 22 of the M1 on Beveridge Lane at Bardon in Leicestershire and forms part of the established Interlink Park development.
Interlink Park is already home to occupiers including Laura Ashley, Waitrose, Brantano, Antalis, Laddaw, Benson Box and Bunzl.
Maximus managing director Jon Hickton said: “Maximus 22 is a major manufacturing or distribution development opportunity.
“We acquired it with the intention of preparing it for the market and now have the planning consent we were seeking.
“It provides an ideally located distribution or manufacturing centre for a business that is seeking a substantial unit at the heart of the UK motorway network,” he said.
Maximus 22 is the latest in a series of strategic investments by the company.
Maximus currently has a controlling interest on 430 acre site which is part of the northern urban extension of Stafford where it has an allocation of 2,000 houses plus plans for primary and secondary schools and a local centre.
Jon Hickton said: “We currently control just under 1,000 acres with five live planning applications running. We understand the challenges associated with infrastructure and planning and are committed to sustainable development. We evaluate each opportunity on its merits and pride ourselves on being quick and decisive.
“We then work to release and maximise the value through the planning process.”
Maximus is a privately owned property development and investment group launched in 2001 which has experienced rapid growth and success over the past 14 years.
