Leading global property consultants JLL opened the doors of their new office at The Senate this week.
The growing 30 plus-strong team announced its move last year as part of the firm’s ongoing success and the need to accommodate a number of its expanding teams in the region. The new space will accommodate up to circa 50 people.
The dynamic office space has been designed in-line with the company’s national workplace strategy, which follows the increasingly popular trend of transforming offices into fun, interactive workplaces to reflect the change in how people spend their working day.
Towards the end of 2014, JLL’s headquarters in London underwent a significant refurbishment project which kick-started the roll-out of the national strategy to adapt all JLL’s regional offices across the UK in this way.
The 4,500 sq ft Grade A space at The Senate includes a creative breakout area, flexible working zones and an emphasis on ‘green working’ with a recycling station in the centre of the space.
The property consultancy, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in the city since 1990, has agreed to take the space on a ten year lease from landlord, Valad.
Charles Kislingbury, lead director of JLL’s Exeter office, said: “Our move was driven by the need to grow and accommodate the expanding teams and provide a workplace transformation consistent with JLL’s workplace strategy. Our choice to remain in the city centre met the needs of the staff and our clients. The Senate was an easy choice for us, offering us the best Grade A space.”
Charles added: “Our move has seen JLL increase its workspace by 30 per cent thus showing a real commitment to growing our existing workforce in line with demand for our services across the region.”
Major areas of growth for the property firm over the last few years have included Residential Land and Planning and Development, while it has also invested in a Renewable Energy advisory business led by Dane Wilkins. The renewables team has seen stellar growth with the core team having increased by 300 per cent to 12 since 2012.
In connection with the move to The Senate, Dane Wilkins said: “We are proud to be able to provide our staff with both a fantastic workspace to enjoy whilst also demonstrating our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint wherever possible. JLL’s building surveying team, led by director David Slee, has project managed the move for JLL including the work carried out by the landlord.
JLL will be the first occupier of the ground floor which has been fitted out for JLL and branded accordingly.
