Mike Herbert, Regional Director at St. Modwen, has made the following statement in support of St. Modwen’s 2014 Annual Results, which have been released to the London Stock Exchange:
“The Trentham Estate, a key visitor destination, has had another successful year with visitor numbers continuing to grow. The shopping village continues to trade well with the Garden Centre and all 62 shops, cafes and restaurants fully occupied. We have recently submitted a planning application for a new restaurant at the Estate. The plans will bring another exciting Restaurant Group plc brand to Trentham, further enhancing the excellent food offer at the site.
“The regional market is performing well and this is reflected in the strong progress we have made in the region on commercial and residential development. Work is well underway on the development to extend the Screwfix distribution facility at Trentham Lakes, which will see the existing facility double in size to 630,000 sq ft. The development will bring initial inward investment of £18m to the area and will create 100 additional full-time jobs, safeguard the 430 current positions and provide potential for 200 employment opportunities in the future. Work is due for completion in summer 2015.
“We are about to start work on a 60,000 sq ft parcel distribution facility at Etruria Valley pre-let to DPD (UK). The development will include office and warehouse space and will replace DPD’s existing facility in Stoke-on-Trent. As a result, over 100 jobs in the region will be safeguarded, as well as creating a further 92 job opportunities.
“In addition, work is expected to start this year on 113 family homes at Trentham Lakes, following receipt of planning consent at appeal.”
