HLM, a leading architectural practice, has appointed two new members of staff to its Cardiff office after securing new contracts for projects across the UK.
Mike Edwards has been appointed as an architectural technologist, while Alice Hiley joins as a part-one architectural assistant. The Cardiff office of HLM has already doubled in size within the last 12 months, bringing the total headcount to 24, and these two appointments will enable HLM to generate new clients and further develop existing projects.
With over 18 years’ experience in architecture, Mr Edwards has expertise in producing technical information for buildings across sectors, including leisure, retail and education. In his role at HLM, Mr Edwards will be responsible for taking forward technical designs for several primary school projects in London and South Wales.
Ms Hiley joins as an architectural assistant as she studies for her stage two practical experience before becoming a fully-qualified architect. After completing her undergraduate degree, Ms Hiley worked in London on a series of community, education and residential projects. Ms Hiley will support the team to deliver a range of projects, including the Reading Primary Schools expansion plans that aim to deliver 2,500 new primary school spaces across the borough.
Mr Edwards said: “It’s an exciting time to join the HLM team with a wide variety of contracts and projects to work on. I am experienced in contributing to the detailed design process and hope that this will help support the further expansion of the Cardiff office.”
Ms Hiley said: “This is a great opportunity for me to further develop my skills as I reach the end of my architectural training. HLM is a practice with a wealth of experience in a variety of sectors, and I hope that I will be an asset in supporting the team across a range of projects.”
