Work on constructing Hinckley’s new five-screen Cineworld cinema has now begun at The Crescent – the new multi-million pound retail and cinema development that will transform Hinckley town centre and bring back the big screen to Hinckley for the first time in 20 years.
Work on the steel structure began to take shape on the corner of Station Road and Lancaster Road at the beginning of January. Elsewhere on the site, the steel work for Sainsbury’s store and integrated car park, as well as for the other shop and restaurant units, is now well advanced.
Leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Stuart Bray, said: “It’s great to see the outline of the new Cineworld cinema in the town centre. It’s been over 20 years since Hinckley had a cinema and I’m delighted that the area will finally be getting this long-awaited facility later this year.”
Tony Baker of the Tin Hat Regeneration Partnership said: “This is another landmark in The Crescent development. It’s exciting to see the progress being made and everyone is very much looking forward to a successful opening later this year.”
And a spokesman for Cineworld added: “We are thrilled to be bringing a new cinema to The Crescent Development, Hinckley, opening in 2015. We are excited to be offering a new entertainment option to the local people.”
