Brett Williams, managing partner of property agents and auctioneers CPBigwood, has been made a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
The prestigious award is made to members in recognition of their contribution to the profession and career achievements.
“I am thrilled to have been honoured in this way,” said Mr Williams.
“I love working in the sector and have sought to play my part in taking it forward. I am gratified that my peers perceive I have made a contribution.”
Qualifying as a chartered surveyor in 1994, he has always undertaken a full range of general practice work on residential and commercial properties for a variety of clients and introducers.
His specialisms include residential service charge management, ground rent collection and associated issues of management strategies, leasehold legislation including landlord and tenant matters and enfranchisement.
His people skills, financial abilities and commercial acumen have seen him rise quickly up the career ladder – he particularly champions the concept of residents being seen as customers.
He has undertaken various roles within the RICS locally and nationally including sitting on its residential management committee.
Mr Williams is also a former chairman of the Association of Residential Managing Agents.
Fellowship of the RICS is defined as a mark of distinction recognised by members, professionals and the public as denoting the highest standards of success, achievement and expertise. Fellows are considered leaders in their field, who have undertaken notable projects or made a special contribution to the profession.
Mr Williams was a partner with Curry & Partners prior to the firm’s merger with Bigwood in 2011, and succeeded Nigel Curry as managing partner of the combined business last year.
CPBigwood has seen rapid growth and now has offices in Birmingham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Henley-in-Arden, Loughborough, Southampton, and London.
The residential service charge team manages 25,000 apartments nationwide.
CPBigwood senior partner Rory Daly congratulated Mr Williams.
“He very much deserves this recognition – he has been a tower of strength for CPBigwood and has contributed greatly to the wider profession.”
