A Yorkshire-based used car supermarket is to open its first showroom in the Midlands after leasing a new site in a deal secured by leading chartered surveyors Johnson Fellows.
Motor Depot Ltd, which has three showrooms in Hessle, Hull and Scunthorpe, has agreed a 15-year lease on 36 Mackadown Lane, Garretts Green, which was marketed by Johnson Fellows on behalf of landlords Apple Barn Properties Ltd.
The 12,078 sq ft premises on the 3.5 acre site comprises canopied sales area, service workshop, preparation area, and valeting area, plus parking for 600 cars.
Stephen Butterley, of Motor Depot Ltd, said: “We couldn’t be happier with the location of the site and feel that we are in a great position to offer a different type of car buying experience to car buyers in the Birmingham area.
“We have always looked to provide a friendly, no hassle service – it’s a philosophy that has served us very well in East Yorkshire, so we look forward to becoming a great addition to the Birmingham community and
hope to see as many people as possible come to see us when we open towards the end of 2014.”
The company is recruiting for all areas of the business and hopes to be open soon.
Ken Salway, consultant at Johnson Fellows, said: “This was too good an opportunity for Motor Depot Ltd to miss and we were pleased to negotiate terms to ensure that it could roll out its plans to expand into the West
Midlands after 12 years in Yorkshire.
“The fact that it is also employing around 40 people is more great news for the local economy.”
Johnson Fellows, which last year celebrated its 30th anniversary, has established itself as one of the region’s leading independent chartered surveying practices, specialising in property management, professional
services, building consultancy and more recently valuation, rating and industrial agency.
In early 2014, it acquired Salway Bradbury, based in Solihull, consolidating further its reputation on both the regional and national stage.
