A world leader in PC-based control systems has become the latest company to join the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry.
Beckhoff Automation Ltd – part of Beckhoff GmbH – will work with MTC engineers and technicians to develop PC-based control systems for the manufacturing sector.
Beckhoff Automation, with its UK base in Henley-on-Thames, has developed advanced automation technology which is used worldwide in a wide variety of applications ranging from food packaging to renewable energy and intelligent building automation.
Continuous development of innovative control technology has powered Beckhoff’s growth and the company’s products have provided industry with fast, compact, accurate and secure control systems. Beckhoff has been active in the UK since 1992.
Stephen Hayes, managing director of Beckhoff Automation Ltd, said, “Becoming a member of the MTC is a significant landmark for us. It reflects the mainstream acceptance of PC-based control in the manufacturing sector and acknowledges the advantages that Beckhoff technology brings to all areas of advanced manufacturing.
MTC chief executive Dr Clive Hickman said he was pleased to welcome Beckhoff to the MTC community.

The growth of the Manufacturing Technology Centre has far exceeded expectations, achieving many of its targets five years ahead of schedule. The MTC is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult which is supported by Innovate UK (formerly the Technology Strategy Board).
