Leisure and retail property specialist EJ Hales has let a two level restaurant on Cardiff’s popular Mill Lane to Côte Brasserie.
Acting on behalf of the landlords FC Eddershaw & Sons Limited and Hone & Jones Limited, the Cardiff-based agent advised on the deal that will see the popular French restaurant open its second unit in Cardiff taking over the unit previously occupied by cocktail bar, Kapu.
Côte who operate over 50 restaurants across the UK, has signed a 20 year lease for £120,000 rent per annum.
35 new jobs will be created as a result of the new restaurant, which will have the capacity for 180 diners.
This is the latest deal advised by EJ Hales, which has acted for a number of landlords owning properties on Mill Lane bringing in eateries including GBK, Bill’s and Carluccio’s.
Phillip Morris, partner at EJ Hales, said: “Over the last few years, we have seen a significant increase in the number of operators that have chosen to locate within the Mill Lane and Hayes area of the city centre. It has become a highly sought after spot, with new restaurants including Wahaca choosing it as a location for their first restaurants outside of London.
“Cardiff is clearly making its mark as the ideal location for popular chains like Côte, who follow other strong brands such as Miller and Carter and Burger & Lobster who have also recently committed to Cardiff city centre.”
Michael Eddershaw of FC Eddershaw & Sons Limited, said: “Côte has experienced great success in Cardiff Bay due to its expansive menu which has led the restaurant to open its second eatery in Cardiff. The restaurant is currently in its final stage of being fitted out and is sure to be a popular dining choice for locals and tourists. EJ Hales’ knowledge and contacts within the leisure and hospitality industry were critical to the success of this strong letting. We’re looking forward to December 8th when Côte opens its door.”
