Summerfield has started work on a petrol filling station at Westpark 26, a 50-acre mixed-use business park in Chelston, Wellington in Somerset, which will bring 23 new jobs to the area.
The front plot at Westpark 26, which is less than one mile from J26 of the M5, will be transformed over the coming months to provide a filling station offering Shell fuel, complete with car and jet wash facilities. A Budgens mini-supermarket will also be on site, as well as Subway and Costa Coffee outlets.
Work has commenced on site and, with a fast turnaround of 16 weeks for the build, recruitment is underway by the various operators for the anticipated 23 new jobs the development will create when the facility opens in March 2015.
Ben Trickey, senior development surveyor at Summerfield, said: “Summerfield have worked closely with Taunton Deane Borough Council to ensure there are excellent facilities on site for local people, businesses and visitors to the Wellington area. Take up at Westpark 26 has been strong over the last quarter and we’re expecting the construction of these beneficial amenities to generate a new surge of enquiries for the next block of enterprise units at Westpark, scheduled for 2015.”
Forelle Estates and Peregrine Retail are the companies behind the new petrol filling station development in Wellington and this will add to several other successful locations they have elsewhere in the UK, including the similar site at Express Park in Bridgwater, off J23 of the M5.
John Mason, managing director of Peregrine Retail, added: “Summerfield have responded to the needs of the business community by commissioning this petrol filling station at Westpark 26. We’re anticipating that demand for fuel in the area will be high and that we’ll be welcoming 12,000 people through the station’s doors every week.”
With an eye-catching canopy design, the site will provide improved access and a new exit for the facilities, which include eight fuel pumps and two HGV pumps. Parking for around 20 vehicles, including dedicated disabled bays, will be available, as will landscaped external seating areas.
