Leading commercial property consultant GVA has secured two buildings for the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust as part of the relocation of some 300 staff from its Selly Oak Hospital site.
The period Yardley Court on Frederick Road offers 22,500 sq ft of good quality refurbished office accommodation in an open plan configuration over four floors, the adjacent Regent Court on George Road provides 50,000 sq ft over four floors of modern accommodation spread over two wings.
Both buildings have been taken on a long-leasehold basis and are located on adjacent plots close to Five Ways Train station.
Cliff Ewan, Commercial Director at UHB, said: “GVA has done an outstanding job in locating these two buildings, both of which offer good quality accommodation and provide us with a bit of room to grow.
“We needed to remain close to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and wanted our staff to be able to have access to as many bus and train routes as possible. Therefore these buildings are absolutely ideal for us.”
The relocation of the staff is scheduled to be completed by the end of Q1 2015.
George Jennings, Associate at GVA, said: “It was clear from our initial conversations that the NHS were looking for a long term solution with a requirement for modern office space in an easily-accessible location, so purchasing something in Edgbaston was by far the most effective solution.”
While Yardley Court was sold with vacant possession, the NHS will be sharing space at Regent Court with two existing occupiers, both of which occupy suites of 8,000 sq ft on the part first and ground floors respectively.
