Staff are expected to start moving in to the new facility on a three acre site in late January, relocating from their current temporary base in Three Elms. The move to the new building at the Hereford Enterprise Zone has led to the creation of 42 new jobs covering managerial, administrative, technical and field staff, and the enlarged team now includes eight apprentices.
Western Power Distribution announced its plans to relocate to the Enterprise Zone last year and the new building will offer engineering facilities, office space and storage for the company.
Meeting with Western Power Distribution’s Estate Manager David Withers to view progress on the development, Bill Jackson, Chairman of the Enterprise Zone Board, said: “We were delighted when Western Power Distribution committed to relocate to Skylon Park and the pace with which their new facility has sprung up is quite staggering.
“Across the entire Enterprise Zone site we now have 40,000 sq ft of workspace either built or under construction and we look forward to welcoming the Western Power employees as they move in over the coming weeks.”
David Withers added: “It has been fascinating to watch the development of our new facility at Skylon Park and to be part of this exciting site as it grows. We are now looking forward to settling in and seeing who else joins us on the Enterprise Zone.”
Hereford Enterprise Zone is focused on creating more than 4,000 new jobs in the coming years. Businesses investing on the site are offered a number of benefits including business rates relief.
