Leading Midlands law firm, Lodders Solicitors has helped local entrepreneurs Dr V and Mrs A Sarveswaran to expand their service station business into Walsall.
The Ablewell Street service station in central Walsall has been brought back to life by local independent retailers Green Petroleum Retail Limited, and as its Managing Director, Dr Sarveswaran explained, local independent filling stations can still compete with the major multinationals and the supermarkets:
“It is all about having a very competitively priced high quality fuel, combined with a well-stocked shop operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are committed to providing the cheapest petrol in Walsall every week.”
Ablewell Street filling station had stood empty for more than a year before Green Petroleum leased it and brought it back to life.
Lodders real estate partner Alastair Frew, carried out the conveyancing for Green Petroleum. He explains: “The deal took many months to bring together, due to a number of complications with the legal and funding arrangements. However, Dr Sarveswaran has a proven track record and he was determined to succeed.
“Despite some historic challenges at the premises and location, Ablewell Service Station has been given a new lease life and Dr V & Mrs A Sarveswaran are determined to give the location a completely fresh start and make it work for the local community.”
Lodders has worked with assisted Dr V & Mrs A Sarveswaran, who are Directors of Green Petroleum Retail Ltd, for a number of years, advising them on the acquisition of two other petrol filling stations, in Redditch and Maypole, Birmingham. “Both these filling stations are performing very well through competitive pricing,” said Dr V Sarveswaran.
