Prospect Estates has secured planning permission from Leeds City Council to transform a Leeds gateway site following a pre-let deal to leading UK kitchen and joinery specialist, Magnet.
Plans designed by LOROC Architects for the creation of a purpose-built Magnet facility at Sheepscar Interchange between Meanwood Road and Clay Pit Lane, have been given the green light facilitating the regeneration of a strategic gateway site at the north of the City Centre.
Magnet is relocating from existing premises on nearby Meanwood Road into the new facility which will incorporate a contemporary kitchen showroom, trade counter, warehouse, offices and parking all in Magnet’s new corporate branding and format.
Prospect Estates will be appointing a contractor and starting on site within the forthcoming weeks in order to hand the premises over to Magnet mid 2015.
Ian Rivington, Director of LOROC Architects, commented; “We worked closely with Leeds City Council to create a scheme befitting the site’s superb prominence on this busy intersection. The investment into delivering this high quality, big brand facility further contributes to the ongoing regeneration of this part of the city.”
Peter Shackleton, Development Manager at Prospect Estates, said; “We considered a number of options for this gateway site and to be bringing it back into use with a high design scheme such as this is an excellent result. We are delighted to have been able to assist Magnet with its relocation into a built-for-purpose facility and are looking forward to commencing work on site shortly.”
Andy Cartlidge, Head of Group Property and Store Development, at Magnet added; “Having operated successfully from our neighbouring facility for a number of years, we were keen to remain in the locality for our customer base and valued staff. The new purpose built premises will give us greater visibility, enable us to work more efficiently and will provide an enhanced experience for our customers.”
