A former petrol filling station in Clifton, Nottingham is set for regeneration following its purchase by a private developer.
Hollands Ltd, which specialises in roadside development and neighbourhood convenience stores, has secured the 0.4 acre Farnborough Road site in a deal overseen by property consultancy Innes England.
Owned by Nottingham City Council, the site has stood vacant since 2007 when fuel tanks were dismantled and removed and has subsequently been remediated for commercial use.
Ben Taylor, head of retail agency for Innes England negotiated the conditional sale on behalf of the city council. He said: “Strategically this is an excellent site, surrounded primarily by residential properties, adjacent to The Winning Post pub and near to the new tram line.
“We received a number of competitive bids, principally from developers looking to redevelop the site before completing the sale with Hollands, a commercial developer from the Staffordshire who are developing a new convenience store for Central England Co-op.”
Paul Holland, Managing Director of Holland commented “Hollands are delighted to have completed the land acquisition and are now on site, with construction due for completion around the end of September. The Co-op are looking to fit out, stock and open the store in time for Christmas.”
Hollands Ltd, which was formed in 1997, is a privately owned development company which undertakes a variety of developments by conversion, refurbishment and new build across England and Wales and boasts a portfolio including retail property, with occupiers such as Tesco Express and Sainsbury’s Local.
