One of Scotland’s most prominent industrial buildings – the Big Blue Shed – has been acquired by FG Burnett on behalf of international fashion retailer Quiz Clothing.
The 143,700 sq ft building sits on a 1.6 acre site in Bellshill and will provide Quiz Clothing, which has 250 outlets, strategic access to major transport arteries.
The building was being marketed by JLL on behalf of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Quiz Clothing was able to act within a three week timeframe from initial viewing to contract completion, allowing FG Burnett’s Glasgow Agency team to negotiate a favourable deal.
FG Burnett director, Ross Sinclair, said: “Quiz Clothing has been looking for a suitable distribution hub for several years and their patience has paid off. The Big Blue Shed occupies a key strategic location connecting with both the M8 and M74 motorways, thereby allowing first class distribution linkage to Quiz’s considerable number of retail outlets.
“The price paid is confidential but represents fantastic value for money – to put this into perspective, the building was purchased for considerably less than the price paid just a year ago.”
Quiz Clothing’s business development director, Sheraz Ramzan, added: “Having almost outgrown our current premises we are delighted to have secured the Big Blue Shed with the assistance of FG Burnett. As both our internet and store operations grow, this facility will underpin our next stage of expansion and provide capacity to at least treble our existing estate of 250 outlets in the UK and internationally. This is a fantastic development for the Quiz brand and a well negotiated deal by FG Burnett.”
Founded in 1995 with three stores in Scotland, Quiz Clothing now has 250 stores and concessions in most of the major shopping centres and High Streets across the UK and 52 franchises in Europe and Asia.
