Property agents John Truslove have hit the right note by helping identify new premises for a Redditch music store.
Death or Glory Records recently moved from the Kingfisher Shopping Centre to 3 Church Green East.
The store, which is owned by Steve Hadley, is looking to develop the local music scene and offer bands a platform from which to progress.
The business has taken 1,523 sq ft in a former hairdressing salon on a five year lease.
Ian Parker, a director of Redditch-based John Truslove, said: “This is an organisation which has an incredible vibe.
“It has struck a chord with bands in the area and is really galvanising music lovers. Property is our gig – we look to offer landlords the right stage for them to rock the market.”
Death or Glory Records was established earlier this year as a community interest company, specialising in vinyl and CDs as well as music merchandise.
The innovative approach involved a special area for local bands to play and sell their music, and a partnership with NEW College, providing a permanent gallery for art students and photographers to display and sell their work. Any profits were earmarked to go towards supporting local bands and artists and helping unemployed young people through offering them work experience.
The new venue, where live gigs are a feature, has allowed the business to thrive and grow, such that it is now offering an independent record label and recording studio.
Mr Hadley said: “There are some genuinely talented bands and artists in the area, some of which have already featured on BBC Introducing and BBC Radio One.
“It is massively important to support the talent that is on our doorstep.”
The shop, which has been campaigning for a better live music scene, runs regular band forums, workshops and events, all free of charge.
