Training company drives innovative software In-house

Professional Driver Services, Vale-based driver training company, today announced it has successfully completed the in-house implementation of Atlas, the company’s innovative and bespoke administration software.

This will enable the company to quickly update and adapt the software in order to manage forthcoming changes in National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) initiatives.

Gareth Bevan, Director at PDS commented; “Since launching the product we have witnessed a growing number of local authorities and police authorities choosing to use Atlas because of its ability to deliver a highly professional and reliable service. This has placed us at the cutting edge of the industry’s administration procedure.

“The company has grown in the last year and we have made some significant recruitment decisions.  Specifically, we have added to our IT team and we now have two highly-skilled in-house software developers” continues, Bevan.  “With new driving initiatives coming into play such as Driving4Change and What’s Driving Us?, we thought the time was right to bring the software in-house and develop the features and modules needed to support these new initiatives – making the software much more scalable and flexible.”

Bevan added; “This is niche softwar e and we want to be able to optimise the technology, ensuring the system is quick and easy to use at all times, whilst guaranteeing continuous connectivity to the national driver offender’s database.

“The new features will enable designated users and the public to book onto the desired driver re-training course, guide individuals through a secure online payment option, and automatically co-ordinate information such as name, address, and offence to the selected venue.  Additionally, the software will automatically and seamlessly update DORS, the national driver offender’s database, from the beginning of the booking process, through to when the course is completed.”

Atlas provides a one‐stop application for the complete processing of all administration activities and enables referring authoriti es, clients and Scheme administrators to seamlessly connect to DORS and share information.  Currently, the software is being used by 13 local authorities across the UK including Staffordshire County Council, Kirklees Metropolitan Council in Yorkshire and Drive Safe, which is a conglomerate of organisations in the Greater Manchester area.

Bevan concluded; “Looking forward we will be developing additional services which can be used within the public sector across other initiatives such as Bikeabilty, Pass Plus and Elderly Driver Schemes.  This will aid us in our next stage of growth as well as enable us to market ATLAS to more local authorities across the UK.”
