Evans Property Group has appointed the office agency teams at CBRE and JLL as joint agents on Capitol office building in Leeds City Centre’s Bond Court in preparation for the imminent completion of the refurbishment works.
Later this month, GMI will complete the 6 month refurbishment programme which is creating 20,000 sq ft of high quality office accommodation on the first and third floors in addition to external improvements to the windows and elevation, a new double height enlarged feature reception, lift and stair core refurbishment and full common area modernisation.
Capitol has been a long-term investment for Evans and is home to occupiers such as BNP Paribas, Cap Automotive and Lifesearch. The transformation is part of a circa £20m investment programme being undertaken by Evans at the Bond Court area of Leeds. The Minerva office building on East Parade has become a flagship, Grade A office building for the city and demolition work is now underway to remove the former ‘stacker’ car park on Greek Street in preparation for the development of a 90 bed 4 * hotel.
CBRE and JLL were chosen to act as joint agents on Capitol following their success in attracting significant interest in neighbouring building Minerva and recently securing its first post-refurbishment tenant, leading national law firm, Gateley.
Alan Syers, Portfolio Director at Evans Property Group, said; “The imminent completion of Capitol is superb progress in the transformation of the whole Bond Court area which will become an attractive, landscaped area of public realm for people within the city to enjoy. The teams at CBRE and JLL are handling significant interest in Minerva at present and we are delighted to have already secured a high profile tenant in Gateley. Just as Minerva is addressing the severe shortage of quality offices in Leeds City Centre, Capitol will add a further 20,000 sq ft in a prime location and we are excited to be bringing the space to market.”
Alex Hailey at CBRE added; “Leeds is still experiencing a significant shortage of quality offices and Capitol will be a very welcome addition to the city centre. The new reception has the wow factor and has transformed the whole feel of the building. We are looking forward to showcasing the space.”
Jeff Pearey at JLL added; “The level of interest currently being experienced at Minerva demonstrates the appeal of the high quality offices being delivered by Evans and the demand for space within this central location. We are looking to emulate the early success of Minerva at the neighbouring Capitol.”
